Not So Bummer Summer!

This afternoon the kids and I joined Kim, Ana Carolina, and Anna  to watch Judy Moody and the Not So Bummer Summer.  This is a great family movie!

Movie day is one of the highlights of our summer break.  We take advantage of stimulus Tuesday!  We get a large bucket of popcorn for $2.50 and $1 drinks.  This is a great deal!

We can't wait to see Cars 2!

Miyabi

Last night our family went to Miyabi for Ethan's birthday. (His birthday celebration lasts all week!)  For some reason our kids love to go there for their birthdays.  I think that is the only time that we eat there.

Anyway, my sister, Peyton and my brother Tommy joined us for a great meal.  The food is good but you get way too much.  So guess what we had for lunch? Japanese, of course!  It will be a while before the Matthews will be eating Japanese again!

Sponge Bob

Got Rice????

After dinner we came home and had cake.  Mimi made Ethan his favorite cake, chocolate cake with chocolate icing!  Yum!!!

Happy 7th Birthday, Ethan!

McKinley's Dance Recital

My sweet baby girl had her dance recital today.  It just warms my heart to watch her dance.  God has given her such a beautiful talent that she can share with her others.  She loves it and it shows through her facial expressions.  I thank God everyday for my sweet baby girl!  She is mommy's little helper and I am her number one cheerleader.  Here are a few pictures of her dancing at different competitions this year!

We are so very proud of her all of her dance accomplishments this year and for her wonderful dance instructors (Ms. Becca and Ms. Ryan).  NMB School of Performing Arts ROCKS!

Peyton was  so proud of her trophy!

Mommy is so proud of you!

Happy Birthday Ethan!

Today is my baby boy's 7th birthday.  He has grown up so fast.  He is very excited because he gets to go pick out his new bicycle.  That is the only thing that he wants for his birthday.  We are planning to have a few friends over next week for a small pool party.  This week is just too busy because of McKinley's dance recital.  Here are a few pics of my handsome boy!

Years ago my kids came up with the sayings "real birthday" and "fake birthday"  because their birthday parties didn't always fall on their "REAL" birthday.  I told them that this means they get to celebrate more than one day.  Everybody is happy now!

Trying out the bikes!

There were a lot to choose from!

He finally found one!

I just pray that God will continue to help me to guide him in His ways!  He challenges me everyday!  I am not a perfect parent but I am learning through lots of pray!  I pray that God will continue to watch over him!  Happy Birthday Ethan!

Cousins

Last night Peyton, my niece, had a sleepover with McKinley and Ethan.  They made an old fashioned tent out of blankets and played in it until bedtime.  When it was time for bed Peyton wanted to snuggle with Te-Te, that's what she calls me.  When we snuggled, it reminded me of when mine were that age.  Oh how I miss McKinley and Ethan being that age!

McKinley, Peyton and Ethan in the tent!

Today the kids went for a swim in the pool and later we went with Janie and Paxton on a golf cart ride to the park.  I am so glad that McKinley and Ethan get to spend time with their cousins.

Can't wait to have Peyton over  again soon!

Busy, Busy

Well you would think that since school is out I would be able to blog more, WRONG!  We have been so busy.  McKinley has had dance every afternoon this week.  Her recital is this Sunday and her dance studio has been very busy preparing!  We have managed to spend some time on the beach, hang out by the pool, and go to a movie this week before dance started each afternoon. It is hard to believe that one week of our summer is almost over.

Eating chicken on the beach!

McKinley and Mallaree

McKinley is so glad that she has had some time to be with her pal Mallaree.  She went with us to see Kung Fu Panda II.  This was a very cute movie but not as funny as the first one.  The kids seemed to really enjoy it.

SCHOOL IS OUT!

Today was officially my last day of work.  What a great feeling to know that my room is all packed up and the floors are ready to be cleaned and waxed! Summer has finally arrived for the Matthews.  We're  looking forward to VBS, camps, pool fun, movie days, and the beach.  I know that it will go by fast so I am going to try to enjoy every minute of it.

Got this cute text from my daughter this morning (by the way she was texting from an ipod touch NOT a cell phone): In the words of a 9 year old (Ethan and I r playing school.  He wrote in his jornal, did math, and did work stations with a great attitude.)  I think I have a teacher in the making.  I wonder if this will last all summer.  (I hope so!) I guess I should teach her how the spell journal if she is teaching Ethan!

Happy Monday everyone!
