Wedding Fun

This evening we went to Brittney Holmes and Mitch Flowers wedding. We have known Brittney since she was a young girl.  The wedding was very sweet.  It was at a pretty plantation style home in Nicholls.  She rode up in a horse and carriage with her father.

We enjoyed good ole southern cookin': barbeque, chicken bog, corn on the cob, etc.  They even had a banana split bar which the kids loved. It was the perfect day for a wedding.  I am so glad the weather was cooperative!
Best wishes to Mr. and Mrs. Flowers!

The Royal Wedding

Yesterday  in honor of the Royal Wedding our principal said we could dress for the occasion.  We  wore big hats and attempted to dress in royal attire.  The kids at school thought it was cool seeing all the funny hats.  We even let the children watch the "Royal Kiss".  Of course they thought it was gross.  I told them that they would go off like Cinderella and Prince Charming and live happily ever after.  It was a very exciting day and the wedding was beautiful.  I am so glad that we could make it fun for the children as well.

When I got up yesterday morning, I noticed that Ethan's hair looked a little funny.  McKinley had attempted to cut his bangs. Now they are a little TOO short.  We had a long talk about how we don't cut hair.  I told McKinley that it was Ms. Wendy's job to cut our hair.  Ethan seemed OK with the whole thing.
                                       Check out the bangs!

WILW

I'm loving ...that we only have 26 more days of school.

I'm loving- that McKinley was only one point away from a Diamond Award (which is their Double Platinum) at Dance Machine a few weeks ago. She got her results back today.

I'm loving... the kids spring pictures that I took at Curtis' Uncle Tommy's house!  The flowers were beautiful!

I'm loving ... that my niece Peyton is finally using the potty.  She is so proud of herself.

I'm loving... that our pool is warming up and the kids can swim!

I'm loving... all the colors of spring!

I'm loving... the Hamburger Casserole I prepared for dinner. (Recipe Below)

                 1 lb. ground beef
                 1 C cheddar cheese, grated
                 2 C egg noodles, cooked
                 1 bell pepper chopped
                1 small onion diced
                1 can tomato soup
                1 can of mushroom soup

Saute onion & pepper.  Add to browned ground beef in 9-inch skillet. Stir in tomato soup.  Season to taste and let simmer 10 minutes.  Remove from heat and stir in grated cheese.  Pour over cooked noodles in casserole dish.  Top with mushroom soup.  Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

Let cool, then chow down!!!!

Happy Birthday McKinley!

It is hard to believe that my baby girl is nine years old today.  It seems like just yesterday I was up in the middle of the night rocking a fussy baby!   Being a parent brings lots of challenges, but it is all worth it in the end!

She has brought us so much joy!  She is smart, talented, and has a great sense of humor!  We are so proud of all her accomplishments so far!  We just pray that God will continue to watch over her as she grows up in a world filled with so much wickedness.  We pray that she will make the right decisions in life and ALWAYS put her faith in Christ!  Here a few pictures of our sweet little angel.

Happy Easter- He Has Risen!

We started off the day with sunrise service at our church.  What an amazing experience for all of us.  To think that the tomb is empty and Christ has risen. As our preacher said today "We are Easter people."  This holiday is a reminder of the foundation of our faith.  We then enjoyed breakfast with friends and family.

After sunrise service the kids looked through their Easter baskets and we got ready for church again!

Mimi, Papa, Tommy, Janie, Peyton, Paxton, Martha and Steve came for lunch!  We enjoyed spending the day with family! The kids were able to take dip in the pool.  I am so thankful for the warm weather.  Our pool is finally beginning to heat up.  Summer will be here soon!

Spring Break

Well it is hard to believe that spring break is almost over.  It has been a very busy week with the kids!  Ethan started off the week at Chiefs 2B Baseball Camp on Monday and Tuesday while McKinley and I worked around the house cleaning out closets.  That was a job, by the way!

                                     Ethan and his buddy Braydon!

                                   Our Closet!

McKinley's closet!  I did not take before pictures.  That would be embarrassing!

                      Ethan's closet!

On Tuesday we traveled to Hickory,NC with Curtis.  He had some business to attend to. On the way we stopped in Charlotte and enjoyed dinner at the Cheesecake Factory and did some shopping at South Park Mall (awesome mall).

Original with strawberries and chocolate caramel!  YUMMY!!!

On one of the dreary rainy days we went to see the movie Rio.  The mall was packed.  It looked like the day after Thanksgiving.  All of the Easter tourist decided to go to the movies as well.

Curtis and I thought it was important for the kids to know the real reason we celebrate Easter, so one night we watched the Passion of the Christ.  It was hard for me to watch, as it is each time I watch this.  To think that God sent his ONE and only son to suffer and die for MY sins.  The kids had lots of questions and we explained that all of  this had to happen so that we could be saved.  The part that hits me the hardest is that Jesus prayed for his accusers even as they crucified him. What an AWESOME GOD we serve!!!!

I also finished my last session of my Bible study Breaking Free by Beth Moore.  Can't wait for the next study!
